This is a compass specifically designed for very small circles. Since it has interchangeable parts, you can switch between using a pencil and a scriber. While a standard compass adjusts the radius by opening and closing the two legs, a drop compass is used as follows: 1) Place the needle on the center axis onto the paper and hold it down with your index finger to fix the center. 2) Adjust the radius. 3) Rotate the drawing part (pencil or scriber) attached to the outer axis with your thumb and middle finger to draw the circle. It can draw circles with a radius of up to 15mm.
